Welcome to Parent Drug Testing

You think you know.  You hope you know - your teen isn't using drugs or alcohol.

It's very normal for a parent to wonder about a teen's drug or alcohol abuse, especially when they may be exhibiting unusual or a recent change in behavior. The teen statistics are eye-opening.  Alcohol use from

  • Nearly 3/4 of students (72%) have consumed alcohol (more than just a few sips) by the end of high school, and more than 1/3 (37%) have done so by 8th grade.
  • The average age teen boys first try alcohol is age 11, for teen girls it’s 13.
  • Teens who start drinking before age 15 years are 5 times more likely to develop alcohol dependence or abuse later in life.
  • Teens who drink heavily are three times more likely to try and hurt themselves (self-harm, attempt suicide etc.) than those who don't.  The 3 leading causes of death for 15 to 24-year-olds are automobile crashes, homicides and suicides – alcohol is a leading factor in all 3.

Statistics for teen drug use is as alarming.  According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), by the time students reach their senior year of high school 50% will have abused an illicit drug, 40% will have smoked a cigarette, 20% will have used a prescription drug recreationally or for a non-medical purpose.  The "Monitoring The Future Survey of 2014,"  reported the following statistics for the use of an illicit drug in the last year among teens and young adults:

  • 39% of 12th graders and college students abused an illicit drug
  • 30% of 10th graders abused an illicit drug
  • 15% of 8th graders abused an illicit drug

According to a CBS News Report, your child's safety maybe at risk:

  • 19% of teenagers drive after smoking marijuana
  • Marijuana affects memory, judgement and perception - especially behind the wheel of a car and under the influence
  • Teens who smoke marijuana frequently are more likely to experience a long-term drop in I.Q.
